What is Money Smart Hunt 2014?
Money Smart Hunt is a Free, nationwide, photojournalistic, scavenger hunt promoting financial education! Players will be asked to photograph themselves accomplishing a provided list of tasks such as "check out a money related book at your local library, "high-five your banker," or "attend a Money Smart Week event." Each completed task and photo is awarded with points. Money Smart Hunt is presented by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. We are ready to see your creativity as you show off how financiall savvy you are!
When is Money Smart Hunt?
Money Smart Hunt begins Wednesday, March 12th at 12:01a.m. CST and runs through Saturday, April 12th at 11:59p.m. CST, during which time participants can join the hunt by downloading the "Scavenger Hunt with Friends" mobile app and uploading creative photos from the list of items.
What is Scavenger Hunt with Friends?
Scavenger Hunt with Friends is a photo-based scavenger hunt mobile application for Android and iPhone users. For 'how to' information and mobile application terms please visit http://scavengerhuntwithfriends.com.
To join this hunt:
(1) Download the "Scavenger Hunt with Friends" app from iOS App Store or the Android Market
(2) Open the app, create a username and password, and search for the "Money Smart Hunt 2014" hunt.
(3) Once the hunt begins you will be able to see the list of items to complete and begin uploading your photos of you completing each item.
All of the tasks require participants to demonstrate how they are financially savvy. Instead of collecting physical items, participants upload photos of the found items using the Scavenger Hunt with Friends mobile app. Happy Hunting.
Winners will receive the following cash prizes:

Money Smart Week ® Scavenger Hunt (“Money Smart Hunt 2014”), April 5 - 12, 2014 Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago
By entering the Money Smart Hunt, entrant (and his/her parent or legal guardian if the entrant is under 18 or a minor in the jurisdiction in which the entrant resides) acknowledges that he/she is eligible to enter the Money Smart Hunt and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules.
Employees of the Federal Reserve System and any individual involved with the design, production, execution or distribution of the Money Smart Hunt, and their immediate family (spouse, parents, children, siblings and step-children) are not eligible to participate.
The Money Smart Hunt is sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, 230 South LaSalle Street, Chicago, IL 60604.
3. Participation Period
The participation period for the Money Smart Hunt is between March 12, 2014 at 12:01 a.m. Central Standard Time and April 12, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time. The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is the official time keeper.
4. How to Participate
In order to participate in the Money Smart Hunt, individuals must download the mobile application, “Scavenger Hunt with Friends” on an Android or Apple iPhone mobile device. For more information concerning the mobile application, please visit http://scavengerhuntwithfriends.com. Participation in the Money Smart Hunt is free; however, individual data plans/rates apply and all charges are the responsibility of the participant. A participant who attempts to obtain more than one registration by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that participant’s entries and that participant may be disqualified from participating in the Money Smart Hunt.
5. Announcement of Winners
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago will determine the prize winners. Prize winners will be notified by email on May 10, 2014. On May 14, 2014, the winners will be announced on www.moneysmartweek.org. In the event of a tie, the entry deemed most creative by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Scavenger Hunt with Friends will win. To qualify for a grand prize, a participant must score a minimum of 1,800 points.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reserves the right to substitute a prize with a prize of comparable value. Prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. All taxes and fees associated with any prize acceptance and use are the sole responsibility of the winner. Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of participants.
6. Entry Conditions and Release
By entering the Money Smart Hunt, participant agrees to: (a) comply with and be bound by these Official Rules, all applicable laws, rules and regulations, and the Scavenger Hunt with Friends terms and conditions; and (b) indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and its past and present officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives from and against any and all claims, expenses, costs, damages, losses and liability of any kind arising out of or relating in any way to participant’s entry and/or participation in the Money Smart Hunt or participant’s acceptance or use of a prize.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Money Smart Hunt for any reason. Participant agrees that the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s decisions related to the Money Smart Hunt are final. No responsibility is assumed for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries; any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines; failure of any entry to be received; or any damage or injury to participant or participant’s property related to or resulting from participation in the Money Smart Hunt.
By registering for and participating in the Money Smart Hunt, participant grants to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, its affiliates and agents, an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, edit, display, transmit, prepare other derivative works of, modify, publish, and otherwise make use of participant’s name, likeness, image, voice, and appearance in any and all media , including but not limited to, web, print, video, and audio for any purpose (“Production Materials”). Participation in the Money Smart Hunt is completely voluntary. The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago owns the Production Materials and participant understands and agrees he/she has no rights of any kind in such Production Materials.. Participant releases the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, its affiliates and agents from any and all claims, damages, losses or liability in connection with the Production Materials.
8. General Conditions
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it believes to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Money Smart Hunt or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Money Smart Hunt may be a violation of criminal or civil law and should such an attempt be made, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Any attempt by a participant to obtain more than the stated number of registrations by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that participant’s entries and that participant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by participant, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Money Smart Hunt; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the Money Smart Hunt; and (4) damage, liability, loss, or injury to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entry and/or participation in the Money Smart Hunt or the receipt, use or misuse of any prize.
