Family and Consumer programs foster three dimensions of financial capability: 1) Financial Knowledge and Understanding, 2) Financial Skills and Competence, and 3) Financial Responsibility. Educational messages are delivered through the USDA - NIFA Education and Cooperative Extension Systems. Program evaluations measure the impacts of the financial education and participation capabilities.

USDA - NIFA Family and Consumer Economics/Cooperative Extension is a leader in advancing consumer's education on financial matters. USDA - NIFA Family and Consumer Economics/Cooperative Extension has also been able to ally itself with a wide range of institutions and groups dedicated or supportive of financial literacy, further strengthening their goals for greater awareness and reach. As part of USDA - NIFA Family and Consumer Economics/Cooperative Extension's participation in Money Smart Week, they will actively promote, partner and provide programming across the country.
