United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) - The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Division of Family and Consumer Sciences strengthens families, farms, communities and the economy as a division of USDA - NIFA. The Division of Family and Consumer Sciences integrates education, research, and the Cooperative Extension System to enhance Family and Consumer Economics. The purpose of the USDA -NIFA Family and Consumer Economics is to establish educational and research priorities for local communities, states, multi-state, and national work on emerging issues germane to the economic well-being of individuals and families. Priority issues include financial instability across the lifespan, helping rural and urban individuals and families maintain economic stability in a changing economy, and supporting community development in increasingly complex and diverse environments.
