What is the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and why are they associated with Money Smart Week?

The Chicago Fed serves the Seventh Federal Reserve District, an economically diverse region that includes all of Iowa and most of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. The Chicago Fed has a head office in Chicago and branch office in Detroit.

As part of the central bank, the Chicago Fed supports financial education with the belief that consumers greatly benefit from making informed money decisions. When consumers save, spend and invest wisely, their impact is two-fold: consumers contribute toward their long term financial well being and have a positive impact on the economy, as a whole.
